Section 10. Related instruction of apprentices
(1) A trade apprentice undergoing practical training must, during that period, receive trade-appropriate related instruction approved by the Central Government in consultation with the Central Apprenticeship Council, to give him the theoretical knowledge needed to become a fully qualified skilled craftsman.
(2) Related instruction is imparted at the employer’s cost, and he must afford all facilities required for it.
(3) Time spent by a trade apprentice attending related-instruction classes counts as part of his paid work period.
(4) For trade apprentices who passed trade tests/examinations after institutional training, related instruction may be given on a reduced or modified scale as prescribed.
(5) Where a person becomes a graduate/technician/vocational apprentice during a technical-institution course and must receive related instruction during his apprenticeship, the employer must release him from practical training for that instruction, for a period specified by the Central Apprenticeship Adviser (or authorised officer).
