Apprentices Act, 1961 — back to Table of Contents

Section 22. Offer and acceptance of employment

(1) Every employer must formulate its own policy for recruiting apprentices who have completed their training in his establishment.

(2) Where a contract of apprenticeship conditions post-training service, the employer must, on successful completion, offer suitable employment, and the apprentice must serve for the period and remuneration specified in the contract.

Proviso: Where the Apprenticeship Adviser considers the specified period or remuneration unreasonable, he may revise it to a reasonable level, which is then deemed the agreed period/remuneration.

Note: Sub-section (1) substituted by Act 29 of 2014, with effect from 22 December 2014.
