Section 4. Contract of apprenticeship
(1) No person may be engaged as an apprentice unless he, or his guardian if he is a minor, has entered into a contract of apprenticeship with the employer.
(2) Apprenticeship training is deemed to commence on the date the contract is entered into.
(3) A contract may contain terms agreed by the parties, provided none is inconsistent with this Act or its rules.
(4) The employer must send every contract to the Apprenticeship Adviser within thirty days (until a portal-site is developed, after which details go on the portal-site within seven days) for verification and registration.
(4A) Any objection to the contract is conveyed by the Apprenticeship Adviser to the employer within fifteen days of receipt.
(4B) The Apprenticeship Adviser registers the contract within thirty days of receipt.
(6) Where the Central Government varies the terms and conditions of apprenticeship training for any category of apprentices by rule, subsisting contracts for that category are deemed modified accordingly.
