Section 55A. Power to remove difficulties
If any difficulty arises in giving effect to this Act, the Central Government may, by order, do anything not inconsistent with the Act that appears necessary to remove that difficulty.
This power could not be exercised beyond three years from the commencement of section 20 of the Banking Laws (Amendment) Act, 1968 — a standard sunset clause limiting how long a “removal of difficulties” power remains available after a major amending Act comes into force.
Note: “Removal of difficulties” clauses are typically transitional in nature and time-limited, as reflected in the proviso here.
