BNS Chapter XII – Weights and Measures (Sections 275–277)

Chapter XII penalises the use of false weights and measures in commercial transactions. Section 275 covers making or using false weights (up to 1 year). Section 276 covers possession with fraudulent intent. Section 277 penalises use of a false measuring instrument. These provisions work alongside the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
