151B. Reciprocal arrangement for exchange of information facilitating trade
- The Central Government may, by notification, direct that provisions of this Act relating to exchange of information shall apply to a country with which reciprocal arrangements have been made, subject to conditions/restrictions/exceptions specified in the notification, for facilitating trade between that country and India.
- The Central Government may, for facilitating trade, by notification, enter into an agreement/arrangement with a country outside India for: (a) exchange of information for verification of compliance in identified cases; (b) exchange of information for prevention/detection of duty evasion or countering smuggling of goods; (c) recovery of duty; (d) mutual assistance; and (e) other measures required for such facilitation.
- The information received under such an arrangement is deemed confidential and used only for the purposes of verification/compliance under the agreement/arrangement.
