Section 21. Pesticides, veterinary drugs residues, antibiotic residues and microbiological counts
No article of food may contain insecticide or pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, antibiotic residues, solvent residues, pharmacologically active substances or microbiological counts beyond the tolerance limits specified by regulations, and no insecticide may be used directly on food except registered fumigants approved under the Insecticides Act, 1968.
“Pesticide residue” includes any substance in food resulting from pesticide use, including its derivatives and toxicologically significant conversion products, impurities and environmental residues; “residues of veterinary drugs” include the parent compounds or metabolites in edible animal products, and associated impurity residues.
