Section 27. Liability of manufacturers, packers, wholesalers, distributors and sellers
The manufacturer or packer is liable for food that fails to meet this Act’s requirements. The wholesaler or distributor is liable for food supplied after its expiry, stored or supplied contrary to the manufacturer’s safety instructions, unsafe or misbranded, of unidentifiable manufacturer, handled contrary to the Act, or received knowing it was unsafe.
The seller is liable for food sold after expiry, kept in unhygienic conditions, misbranded, of unidentifiable manufacturer or distributor, or received knowing it was unsafe.
