Section 29. Authorities responsible for enforcement of Act
The Food Authority and State Food Safety Authorities are responsible for enforcing this Act, and must monitor and verify that food business operators meet legal requirements at all stages of business, maintaining systems of control, public communication and surveillance.
Food Safety Officers enforce provisions within their area not expressly assigned to another authority, and regulations specify which officers enforce which matters, allowing for assistance and information-sharing between authorities. The Commissioner of Food Safety and Designated Officer exercise the same powers and follow the same procedures as a Food Safety Officer.
