Section 4. Establishment of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
The Central Government shall, by notification, establish the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to exercise the powers and perform the functions assigned to it under this Act.
The Food Authority is a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal, capable of acquiring, holding and disposing of property, and of suing and being sued in its own name. Its head office is at Delhi, and it may establish offices elsewhere in India.
