Section 46. Functions of Food Analyst
On receiving a sample package, the Food Analyst must compare the seal against the specimen impression and note its condition, informing the Designated Officer within seven days if the container is broken or unfit for analysis and requisitioning the second part of the sample. He must analyse samples sent by a Food Safety Officer or other authorised person.
Within fourteen days of receipt, the Food Analyst must send four copies of the analysis report to the Designated Officer for samples taken under sections 38 or 47, or a copy to the purchaser (with a copy to the Designated Officer) for samples taken under section 40, informing the Designated Officer and Commissioner if analysis cannot be completed within that time. An appeal against the Food Analyst’s report lies to the Designated Officer, who may refer the matter to the notified referral food laboratory for its opinion.
