Section 7. Term of office, salary, allowances and other conditions of service of Chairperson and Members of Food Authority

The Chairperson and non-ex-officio Members hold office for three years from entering office and are eligible for re-appointment for a further three years, though the Chairperson may not continue in office after turning sixty-five. Their salary, allowances and other service conditions are prescribed by the Central Government, and each must take an oath of office and secrecy before entering upon duties.

The Chairperson or a Member may resign by giving three months’ written notice, or may be removed under section 8. A person who has ceased to hold office may not represent anyone before the Food Authority or a State Authority.
