Section 92. Power of Food Authority to make regulations
The Food Authority may, with the previous approval of the Central Government and after previous publication, by notification, make regulations consistent with this Act and the rules made thereunder to carry out its provisions.
Such regulations may in particular cover matters including the salaries and conditions of service of Food Authority officers and employees; the procedure of the Central Advisory Committee, the Scientific Committee and Scientific Panels; the making or amending of regulations in cases of urgency concerning food safety or public health; standards and limits for food additives, contaminants, heavy metals, pesticide and veterinary drug residues; the manner of marking and labelling foods; the form of guarantee under section 26 and conditions for food recall procedures under section 28; the functioning of Food Safety Officers; the registering authority, licence application procedure, fees, and circumstances for cancellation or forfeiture of licences under section 31; the areas assigned to Designated Officers; the procedure and fees for getting food analysed; the functions and procedure of food laboratories; the financial regulations for the Food Authority’s budget; guidelines for participation in Codex Alimentarius meetings; and any other matter required or permitted to be specified by regulations.
