Section 21. Rights conferred by registration
Valid registration gives the registered proprietor and authorised users the right to obtain relief for infringement, and gives authorised users the exclusive right to use the geographical indication in relation to the goods for which it is registered. That exclusive right is subject to any conditions or limitations attached to the registration.
Where two or more people are authorised users of identical or nearly identical geographical indications, none of them acquires exclusive rights against the others merely through registration (except as conditions or limitations on the register provide) — each retains the same rights against outsiders as if they were the sole authorised user.
