Section 27. Power to cancel or vary registration and to rectify the register
Any aggrieved person may apply, in the prescribed manner, to the High Court or the Registrar to cancel or vary a registration on the ground of contravention or failure to observe a registered condition. Similarly, anyone aggrieved by an absent, wrongly made, wrongly retained, or defective register entry may apply for it to be made, expunged, or varied.
The Registrar or High Court, as applicable, may decide any question necessary for rectification, and may also act on its own motion after giving notice and a hearing to the parties concerned. Where the High Court orders rectification, it directs that notice be served on the Registrar, who then rectifies the register accordingly. Rectification applications generally go to the Registrar, though certain categories (per section 58) must go directly to the High Court.
