Section 64 – Geographical Indications Act: Extension of Time

The Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999 — back to Table of Contents

Section 64. Extension of time

On an application made in the prescribed manner and with the prescribed fee, the Registrar, if satisfied there is sufficient cause, may extend the time for doing any act under this Act that does not have a time limit expressly fixed by the Act itself — whether or not the time has already expired — subject to any conditions he thinks fit, and must inform the parties of his decision.

The Registrar is not required to hear the parties before deciding such an extension application, and no appeal lies from his order under this section.
