Section 78. Documents open to public inspection
Subject to prescribed conditions, the following are open to public inspection at the Geographical Indications Registry: the register and the documents underlying its entries; every notice of opposition, rectification application before the Registrar, counter-statement, and any affidavit or document filed by parties in proceedings before the Registrar; the indexes under section 77; and any other documents the Central Government notifies. Where the register is maintained wholly or partly on computer, inspection is done through a computer printout of the relevant entry.
Any person may, on application to the Registrar and payment of the prescribed fee, obtain a certified copy of any register entry or document referred to above.
