Section 66A (Punishment for sending offensive messages through communication service, etc.) was omitted by the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2023 (18 of 2023), s. 2 and Schedule (w.e.f. 30-11-2023). The section had earlier been struck down by the Supreme Court’s order dated 24-3-2015 in Shreya Singhal v. Union of India, AIR 2015 SC 1523.
