Section 44. Declaration of assets.—
On and from the date of commencement of this Act, every public servant shall make a declaration of his assets and liabilities in such form and manner as may be prescribed.
Note: Section 44 as originally enacted required a more detailed declaration (of assets, liabilities and those of spouse and dependent children) with prescribed timelines. It was substituted in its present, simplified form by the Lokpal and Lokayuktas (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act 37 of 2016), with retrospective effect from 16 January 2014, the date on which the parent Act came into force.
