Section 15. Punishment for attempt
Whoever attempts to commit an offence referred to in clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 13 shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than two years but which may extend to five years and with fine.
Note: The reference was substituted from “clause (c) or clause (d)” to “clause (a)” by the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 (16 of 2018), s. 9, with effect from 26 July 2018, consequent to the re-numbering of section 13(1). The imprisonment term “which may extend to three years” was earlier substituted with “which shall not be less than two years but which may extend to five years” by Act 1 of 2014, s. 58 and the Schedule, with effect from 16 January 2014.
