Section 18. Transfer of name from one State roll to another

(1) Any advocate on a State Bar Council roll may apply, in the prescribed form, to the Bar Council of India to transfer his name to the roll of another State Bar Council. On receipt, the Bar Council of India shall direct removal from the first roll (without fee) and entry in the other roll, and both State Bar Councils shall comply.

Proviso: Where a disciplinary proceeding is pending against the applicant, or where the Bar Council of India considers the application not bona fide, it may, after giving the applicant a hearing, reject the application.

(2) On transfer, the advocate retains the same seniority in the new roll that he held in the former roll.
