Section 53. Elections to first State Bar Council
Notwithstanding this Act, the elected members of a State Bar Council constituted for the first time under this Act are elected by and from advocates, vakils, pleaders and attorneys who, on the election date, are entitled as of right to practise in the High Court and are ordinarily practising within the Bar Council’s territory.
Explanation: Where the territory includes a Union territory, “High Court” includes the court of the Judicial Commissioner of that territory.
