Section 1. Short title, extent and commencement
(1) This Act may be called the Commercial Courts Act, 2015.
(2) It extends to the whole of India.
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 23rd day of October, 2015.
Note: The Act’s original title was the “Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Courts Act, 2015”; it was shortened to the “Commercial Courts Act, 2015” by the Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Courts (Amendment) Act, 2018, with effect from 3 May 2018.
