The Commercial Courts Act, 2015 (Act No. 4 of 2016) provides for the constitution of Commercial Courts, Commercial Appellate Courts, and Commercial Divisions and Commercial Appellate Divisions in High Courts, for the speedy adjudication of high-value commercial disputes.

Note: The Act also contains a lengthy Schedule (see section 16) which amends numerous provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 for their application to commercial disputes — including a new costs regime (substituted section 35), summary judgment procedure (Order XIII-A), disclosure and discovery of documents (Order XI), and case management hearings (Order XV-A). Given its scale and highly technical, procedural nature, the Schedule is not reproduced here; readers requiring the amended CPC provisions verbatim should consult the bare Act directly.
