An Act to provide for the payment by certain classes of employers to their employees of compensation for injury by accident. Originally titled the Workmen’s Compensation Act, 1923; renamed and amended (“workman”/”workmen” replaced by “employee”/”employees”) by the Workmen’s Compensation (Amendment) Act, 2009, with effect from 18-1-2010. Further amended by the Employee’s Compensation (Amendment) Act, 2017 (No. 11 of 2017), with effect from 15-5-2017.
